Crocodiles In Pampang Makassar Become Children's Toys, BKSDA: Don't Disturb

MAKASSAR - The crocodile in Pampang, Panakkukang, Makassar became a children's toy, as recorded on a video. The Center for Natural Resources Conservation (BBKSDA) of South Sulawesi asked residents not to disturb the crocodiles.

"We received a lot of complaints regarding a Crocodile in Pampang. They demanded the crocodile be evacuated. But if, in fact, it's the crocodiles' habitat there," said Rudi Ashadi, a member of the BKSDA South Sulawesi Public Relations team, contacted by VOI.

BKSDA can't catch the crocodile unless the crocodile enters residential areas.

"The crocodile lives is there. Unless, if it enters residential areas, we can catch it," he said.

Rudi appealed to residents to avoid and not disturb the crocodiles that often appear in the Pampang river. He will install a warning board not to approach estuarine crocodiles to maintain the survival of estuarine crocodiles.

"There is probably not just 1. Our first step will be to socialize regarding the crocodile problem. Continue to put up a warning board for the community not to get close to that location because of the place where they live. I saw on the video that the children were disturbing them, " explained Rudi.

From the video distributed on the Instagram account, it shows a number of children approaching the Pampang crocodile. Some were hitting the crocodile with wooden sticks.
