Extension Of Cooperation, Infineon Technologies And VinFast Create Center For Competency Of EV Applications

JAKARTA - VinFast, Vietnam's first global smart electric carmaker and Infineon Technologies AG, world leader in automotive semiconductor solutions, announced it was to extend its partnership a few days ago in Singapore.

With this extension, the two companies will set up joint application competency centers focused on electromobility to accelerate the development of VinFast's solution for the future of smart mobility.

The inauguration of the center is planned for the first quarter of 2023. The creation of the VinFast Infineon Competition Center (VICC) marks a new level in the relationship between the two companies in the early development phase of VinFast's next generation smart mobility solution.

As VinFast's strategy to ensure the advantages of its products in the global EV market, the VICC will initially focus on developing a new Electric Drive Train (EDT) for VinFast's electrification platform.

VinFast's goal is to create smart mobility solutions for a sustainable future, said Mdm. Le Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chairman of Vingroup and Global CEO VinFast in an announcement shared on Twitter.

Thuy added that Infineon's advanced products and solutions will help increase VinFast's production efficiency and support the company to achieve its goals more quickly.

The announcement also mentions that with a wide portfolio of products and technologies, Infineon will provide technical and guidance support in semiconductor selection including conventional technology and those based on WBG semiconductor materials (Wide Bandgap), including silicon carbide (SiC).

The competency center will also have a laboratory with testing equipment and measurements to provide rapid product validation.

The electro-growth of mobility is undeniable. Infineon is committed to pushing for this advancement along with partners like VinFast who show a high execution speed and strong determination," said Peter Schaefer, Executive Vice President and CMO of the automotive division at Infineon.

"We will help VinFast's electrification journey and support the design progress of their electric platform." he added.

Infineon is at the core of the transformation of the automotive industry towards sustainable mobility. The two companies have been working together for more than three years before this newly extended agreement.
