The Dog Lovers Community Will Letter The Acting Governor Of DKI Regarding Prohibition Of Carrying Pets In The CFD Area

JAKARTA - The dog lover community (Dogi Lovers) will request the lifting of the ban on bringing animals to Car Free Day (CFD) to the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi. The ban is contained in the Decree of Kadishub no:e-0077 of 2022.

With the lifting of the ban, Dogi Lovers hopes dog lovers can return to following the CFD with their pet dogs.

"We will make a letter of complaint to the Acting Governor later, accompanying Kadishub. That's ridiculous to make a ban," said Azas Tigor Nainggolan, chairman of FAKTA Jakarta, Monday, October 17.

Azas said that what should have been made was a rule for dog lovers or pet lovers when bringing their dog's pet to the public sphere.

"We ask for the opportunity to meet and have an audience with the Acting Governor of Jakarta, Mr. Heru Budi, to discuss efforts to build a friendly Jakarta city for pets," he said.

The plan, said Azas, was supported by Dog Lovers throughout Indonesia.

"The animal is tied up, what must be made is the rule. If people bring their pets what they have to do as a responsibility so as not to disturb other communities, that's what is regulated, not prohibiting," he said.

With the ban on carrying this dog, it is feared that other public area managers in Jakarta will imitate it. If this ban is successful in Jakarta, it will be imitated by other cities by prohibiting bringing dogs in their area.

"This prohibition will clearly cause horizontal conflicts about activities and raising dogs," he said.
