JAKARTA - Flash floods hit four hamlets in Malacca Village, North Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, Sunday (16/10) 2022, so that 420 families (KK) had to be evacuated.
The head of Malacca Village, Akmaludin, told ANTARA when contacted from Mataram, Sunday night mentioned the four hamlets, namely, Satangi, Nipah, Lendang Luar and Badung.
"Banjir bandang as high as an adult knee hit a resident's house," he said.
A total of five houses, namely, in Lendang Luar Hamlet, Badung Hamlet and Setangi Hamlet collapsed.
He said the flash flood was the result of heavy rains that hit the area since Sunday (16/10) afternoon at 14.00 WITA and still occurring until the evening.
"The water came from Bukit Setangi after the rain hit from noon," he said.
Residents affected by the flood, said Akmaludin, must now be evacuated to a safe place.
Previously, about 10 kilometers of roads connecting West Lombok-North Lombok or to be precise in Nipah, Setangi and Lendang Luar, North Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, Sunday (16/10), were cut off due to landslides.
So that road users to North Lombok or vice versa West Lombok must pass through Pusuk Gunung Sari.
The head of Malaka Village, North Lombok, Akmaludin, confirmed that the road was cut off due to landslides.
"Until now, the vehicle has not been able to cross it," he said.
The locations are in three hamlets of Malacca Village, namely, Setangi, Lendang Luar and Nipah along 10 kilometers.
He said the avalanche occurred after heavy rains hit the area since Sunday (16/10) at 14.00 WITA until this news was reported that the rain had not subsided.
