Malang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) evacuated a number of residents of Sitiarjo Village, Sumbermjing Wetan District, Malang Regency, East Java, who were affected by the flood disaster due to high-intensity rain.Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of Malang Regency BPBD, Sadono Irawan, when confirmed by ANTARA in Malang, Saturday, said that BPBD and a number of related elements carried out evacuation of a number of residents who had been trapped by the flood. "We had evacuated vulnerable residents in areas affected by floods to safe places," said Sadono. Sadono explained that the flood in Sitiarjo Village was caused by high-intensity rain that had begun to flush the area since Saturday at 04.00 WIB. According to him, with the increase in water level causing downstream in the Pang Heuran River, Krajan Tengah Hamlet, Sitiarjo Village overflowed at approximately 06.30 WIB. The overflow caused residents' houses to be submerged up to 1.5 meters. "The Panguluran River in Unggapan Beach was blocked by high tides. However, at around 09.30 WIB the water had already decreased. Residents who were evacuated earlier there were to the family's place and there were also those who had returned because the water began to recede, "he said. The floods recorded causing 470 families to be affected, which were divided into 177 families in Roworate Hamlet, 70 families in Central Krajan Hamlet, 67 families in Krajan Kulon Hamlet and 156 families in Krajan Wetan Hamlet.
