"You Don't Care About Jakarta!", Launching The Demonstrators In Front Of Anies Baswedan

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and DKI Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria finally visited the protest participants in front of the DKI Jakarta City Hall who had been waiting for several hours.

The action, which was held by the Jakarta Citizens Struggle Coalition (KOPAJA) expressed their disappointment over Anies' attitude which was deemed incapable of solving nine crucial problems in Jakarta.

On the last day of work, Anies negotiated with the participants of the action. Not wanting to miss this last momentum, the masses immediately searched for Anies by explaining various unfinished problems.

One of the representatives of KOPAJA, Al was sprayed by Anies with a number of problems. One of them is non-optimal flood management. Aldi admitted that he was surprised by Anies' reason about the flood that blamed rainfall and the lack of capacity for the drainage system.

"Regarding flooding, you always blame rain. But you never think why it floods. Water should be absorbed by the ground, but Jakarta runs off is only 10 percent. Drainage is 100 millimeters per day. Rain, yes, it's raining. So you can't make it rain," Aldi told Anies at the location, Friday, October 14.

Taking a look at the demonstrators' statements, Anies continued to show his calm attitude, while occasionally smiling at one of the participants in the action. While, occasionally seeing other participants around him.

Aldi continued his statement. He views Anies as unable to claim that the handling of Jakarta's floods is still better than the previous governors. Aldi asked Anies to realize that the Jakarta flood during his tenure resulted in casualties.

"Indeed, you are incompetent in taking care of Jakarta. Until 55 people died in your period, you would prefer to say 'flood in my era is easier, only 6 hours, better than before'. But you never caught that 55 people died, sir, because of the flood," said Aldi.

Today, a group of residents on behalf of the Jakarta Citizens Struggle Coalition (KOPAJA) held a demonstration in front of Anies' office. KOPAJA stated that the drop out of Anies and Riza were deemed unable to fulfill their campaign promises and solve 9 problems which they repeatedly demanded to be resolved.

In fact, KOPAJA has demanded Anies to solve these 9 problems since October 18, 2021. They have submitted a number of warning letters to the red report card to Anies.

The following are 9 problems that have an impact on the feasibility of Jakarta residents and are required to be resolved by Anies:

1. Bad air quality Jakarta which has exceeded the national ambient air quality standard2. The difficulty of accessing clean water in Jakarta is due to air privatization3. Jakarta flood management has not been rooted in several causes of flooding4. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's lack of seriousness in expanding access to legal assistance is 5. Weak protection of coastal communities and small islands in Jakarta Bay6. The viable settlement is still a crucial problem 7. Forced eviction still haunts Jakarta residents 8.
