After Jokowi's Launch, IndoVac Was Immediately Injected By The Prime Minister To Residents Who Had Not Received The Vaccine
JAKARTA - President Director of PT Bio Farma, Honesti Basyir said the first injection of the COVID-19 IndoVac vaccine targeted residents who had not received the vaccine at all.
According to him, the clinical trial conducted on the IndoVac vaccine, which has received emergency use authorization (EUA) certification, is only for primary vaccination.
"This morning the President, who directly named the IndoVac vaccine, officially launched the IndoVac vaccine, and witnessed the first injection of the IndoVac vaccine for people who had never been injected at all," said Honesti at the Bio Farma Office, Bandung City, West Java, Thursday, October 13.
The first injection of the IndoVac vaccine was carried out to around 15 people. The injection was witnessed directly by President Joko Widodo after launching the vaccine.
Although only for primary vaccination, according to him, Bio Farma has also been in the process of being able to get EUA for the IndoVac vaccine for the booster vaccination stage so that dependence on imports can be reduced.
"If the clinical trial has been completed and has received permission from the POM, this will be used for the government's booster program (boosting vaccination)," Honesti said as quoted by Antara.
He also ensured that the IndoVac vaccine was of the same quality as other vaccines that are commonly used with efficacy above 80 percent. And most importantly, he said, the IndoVac vaccine is confirmed to be halal certified.
"Well, this is because Indonesia has a very important halal problem, so from the start we have designed this vaccine in a good safety, high efficacy and good quality and halal," he said.
Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) launched the IndoVac vaccine, which is a domestic production, from upstream to downstream.
The President said that Bio Farma can currently produce the IndoVac vaccine with a capacity of 20 million doses. Meanwhile, for 2023, according to him, the IndoVac vaccine can be produced as many as 40 million doses.
"This takes time, IndoVac from the beginning until now 1.5 years, has been silent and has never spoken, suddenly became IndoVac," said Jokowi.
