KPK Continue The Detention Of The Inactive Pemalang Regent Mukti Agung Wibowo

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has extended the detention period for the next 30 days against two suspects in the alleged bribery case of buying and selling positions in Pemalang Regency, Central Java.

The two suspects are recipients of bribes in the case, namely the inactive Pemalang Regent, Mukti Agung Wibowo (MAW), and Adi Jumal Widodo (AJW), from the private sector or PD Aneka Usaha commissioners.

"Because the need for collecting evidence by the investigative team is still being carried out, the suspect MAW and his friends will continue for the next 30 days," said Head of the KPK News Section, Ali Fikri, in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 11.

The detention was based on the determination of the Head of the Central Jakarta District Court for Corruption Crimes starting from October 11, 2022 to November 9, 2022.

Currently, MAW is being held at the Red and White Building Rutan, Jakarta, and AJW is being held at the Rutan in Lot C1 located at the KPK Anti-Corruption Education Center Building, Jakarta.

The KPK has named a total of six suspects. Meanwhile, the other four suspects are the giver, namely the acting (Pj) of the Pemalang Regency Secretary, Slamet Masduki (SM), the Head of the Pemalang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency, Sugiyanto (SG), the Head of the Pemalang Regency Kominfo Service, Yanuary Nitbani (YN), and the Head of the PUPR Office of Pemalang Regency, Mohammad Saleh (MS).

In the construction of the case, the KPK explained that the suspect MAW, after several months of being inaugurated as the regent of Pemalang, reshuffled and reorganized the position for several echelons within the Pemalang Regency Government.

In accordance with MAW's direction, the Pemalang Regency Government Regional Personnel Agency opened an open selection for the position of high-ranking Pratama leadership at Pemalang Regency Government.

In fulfilling the position, the KPK suspected that there were further directives and orders from MAW, which asked the prospective participants to prepare a sum of money if they wanted to be smoothed out. Furthermore, AJW, MAW's confidant, included the money given in cash into his bank account for MAW purposes.

The amount of money for each position varies according to level and echelon, ranging from Rp. 60 million to Rp. 350 million. The officials who gave bribes for positions at Pemalang Regency Government were SM for the acting position of the Regional Secretary, SG for the head of BPBD, YN for the Head of Kominfo, and MS for the Head of PUPR.

Regarding the fulfillment of positions in the Pemalang Regency Government, MAW through AJW is suspected of having received a sum of money from several ASN in Pemalang Regency Government and from other parties, amounting to around Rp. 4 billion.

The KPK also suspects that MAW has received money from other private parties related to his position as regent of around Rp. 2.1 billion and that will continue to be investigated further by the KPK.
