OJK Affirms The Need For A Digital Trust System To Build Community Trust In A Digital Financial Ecosystem

JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is said to continue to develop an innovative, responsible, and consumer protection financing (fintech) ecosystem.

Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners Mahendra Siregar said the digital trust system is very important to increase public trust in the digital financial industry.

"The need to build trust and credibility is fundamental, especially now that it has increased various risks along with the digitalization of all community activities," he said at the opening of the 2022 OJK Virtual Innovation Day, Monday, October 10.

According to Mahendra, in addition to mitigating risks, digital trust development is also strategic in increasing consumer confidence.

"This can clearly encourage people to take advantage of digital financial services and products that convince consumers that their assets, data and privacy are maintained safely," said Mahendra.

On the same occasion, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Indonesian Fintech Association (Aftech) Rudiantara said that he emphasized a number of basic things that must be considered in building a digital trust system.

All elements of the digital financial ecosystem need to consider placing their investments in order to improve digital trust. It is also important to involve an interdisciplinary approach in all aspects that include human resources, business processes, governance, and regulations with technology as the main supporter," he said.

In OJK Virtual Innovation Day 2022, authorities recorded launching several initiatives such as chatbot services and digital financial literacy modules related to consumer complaint channels as well as programs to increase HR capacity in the field of supervisory technology (suptech) and technology regulatory technology (regtech).

The three initiatives are claimed by OJK to be useful in the development of a strong, responsible and sustainable digital financial ecosystem.

Meanwhile, this overall program is expected to increase the level of public confidence in digital finance and have a positive effect on the escalation of financial inclusion in Indonesia.
