Sri Mulyani's Message To Financial Professionals: Challenges To The Future Of A Digital And Sustainable Economy

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani conveyed a special message to professionals and professional candidates (students), as well as other stakeholders in the financial sector to continue to maintain integrity in their work.

According to him, the financial profession has its own responsibility to build awareness about the development of a digital and sustainable economy.

"Continuous economic development has been and continues to be pursued by countries in various parts of the world, including Indonesia," he said at the opening of the 2022 Expo Finance Profession (PKE), Monday, October 10.

The Minister of Finance explained that the development of the digital economy and a sustainable economy is something that must be greeted with open arms and is expected to improve the economy as a whole.

"As a professional in the financial sector that has changed so much, you need to continue to equip yourself with constantly changing knowledge and knowledge, especially as a result of changes in the financial sector itself, digital technology, as well as new challenges such as climate change," he said.

Not only that, the Minister of Finance also reminded that in the future the financial profession will play an increasingly important and strategic role in the Indonesian economy.

He said, the digital era of the financial sector will also experience changes, including the increasingly borderless practice of activities. Therefore, the need for credible financial information and having an accountable guarantee is very important for investors and stakeholders.

"So the role of the financial profession is important as a pillar of credibility and accuracy in making decisions both in the company or the financial sector," he said.

The government itself states that it will always encourage the financial profession to continue to develop. The Minister of Finance even wants in the future more and more young people will pursue the financial sector with higher socialization, while still upholding integrity and professionalism.

"Through PKE 2022, it is hoped that it will become a bridge to bring the finance profession fostered by the Ministry of Finance closer to the public so that communication will be established between practitioners and potential service users," he said.

"Financial professions are also expected to be able to improve the quality of service services, improve synergy and quality coordination between financial professional organizations, practitioners, and regulators, and play an active role in digital and sustainable economic growth," concluded Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
