New Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Chipset

JAKARTA - Qualcomm has officially introduced its newest System-on Chip (SoC), namely Snapdragon 888. At the 2020 Digital Tech Summit, chipsets that support 5G technology are ready to power the premium flagship smartphone lineup.

"Snapdragon 888 is poised to start a new era of smartphones by delivering premium experiences that are sustainable on long-term innovation," said Qualcomm Technologies Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile, Compute and Infrastructure Alex Katouzian.

So what technological improvements did Qualcomm bring to the Snapdragon 888? This SoC includes the third generation Snapdragon X60 5G Modem-RF System, enabling global compatibility by offering mmWave and sub-6 on all major world bands, and also supports 5G carrier aggregation, global multi-SIM, stand alone, non-stand alone, and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing.

"This means that more and more networks provide very fast connections so you can enjoy your favorite applications with a battery that lasts all day anywhere with a 5G connection," said Lekha Motiwala, Director of Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies.

Qualcomm is also bringing a technology update to the Snapdragon 888.The latest sixth generation Qualcomm AI Engine with a completely redesigned Qualcomm Hexagon processor brings major advancements in AI compared to the previous generation for improved, power efficient, 26 tera operations per second (TOPS) performance. ).

The platform is further enhanced with the second-generation Qualcomm Sensing Hub, which brings low-power Always-On AI processing for intuitive and smart features.

The Snapdragon 888 chipset will also feature a significant new 3rd generation Snapdragon Elite Gaming. This includes improving the performance of the Qualcomm Adreno GPU from the previous generation.

The new chipset will also offer better computational photography performance, thanks to Qualcomm Spectra ISP's faster gigapixel speed. The new ISP will allow users to take photos and videos at a speed of 2.7 gigapixels per second or around 120 photos at 12MP resolution, which is up to 35 percent faster than the previous generation.

The presence of Snapdragon 888 has the support of a number of electronic vendors, including ASUS, Black Shark, Lenovo, LG, MEIZU, Motorola, Nubia, Realme, OnePlus, OPPO, Sharp, Vivo, ZTE and Xiaomi.
