Indonesia Falls 12 Athletes To The 2022 Rock Climbing Asian Championships

JAKARTA - Indonesia has deployed 12 athletes in the 2022 Rock Climbing Asia Championship which will be held in Seoul, South Korea, 10-16 October.

Of the 12 athletes, 9 of them are athletes who will appear in the speed number, while the other three athletes will compete in the lead and boulder numbers.

Chairman of the Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation (FPTI) Yenny Wahid is optimistic that based on the results of the 2022 Jakarta series World Cup, Indonesia will again achieve maximum results in the Asian-level rock climbing championship.

"Seeing the results of the World Cup in Jakarta yesterday, I am certainly optimistic that our athletes, especially the discipline of speed, can achieve maximum results in the 2022 Asian Championship rock climbing championship," Yenny said as quoted by Antara, Sunday.

In addition, he also said that sending athletes to the championship was an effort by FPTI in preparing athletes to face the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifiers.

The Red and White team again deployed two world record-breaking climbers in the Asia championship which was just held again after two years of vacuum. They are the men's speed world champion Veddriq Leonardo and Kiromal Katibin.
