MER-C About Rizieq Shihab's Swab Test Letter: Patient Privacy

JAKARTA - A letter has been circulating from the results of the swab test laboratory stating that Rizieq Shihab was positive or exposed to COVID-19. In the statement in this letter, the test results are reported by the MER-C health organization.

When confirmed, the Chairman of the MER-C Presidium, Sarbini Abdul Murad did not speak directly about the truth of the contents of the letter. What is clear, Sarbini said that all the results of the swab are patient privacy.

"That's all patient privacy and MER-C has no right to announce the results of the lab or patient secrets," said Sarbini when confirmed, Wednesday, December 2.

Sarbini emphasized that his party had never issued and spread the results of Rizieq's real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) lab test. According to him, confidentiality is included in the code of ethics for the medical profession.

"To be sure, MER-C has never released the results of Habib Rizeq's lab. Such a medical code of ethics. It is all the rights of patients or their families," he said.

Previously, a photo circulated containing information on the results of the swab test that tested positive for COVID-19, namely Muhammad R. Shihab. The swab test was conducted on November 27.

Regarding the photo circulating, the Chairman of the Alumni Brotherhood or PA 212 Slamet Maarif denied the truth of the contents of the letter. He emphasized that the photo was not true.

Slamet also said that the results of the swab tests shown on the photos were different from the actual results. This was discovered after confirming directly with Rizieq.
