As Of Last Night, 25 Villages Were Still Submerging East Kotawaringin Floods
JAKARTA - Floods in East Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan have expanded. In fact, at least 25 villages have submerged with water levels reaching four meters. "This is temporary data. We continue to coordinate to monitor developments in the field, as well as distribute aid to flood victims," said Head of the East Kotawaringin Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Rihel in Sampit, Friday night, October 7.
Currently, the flood has submerged 25 villages spread across five sub-districts. The water level varies from 60 centimeters to the worst four meters from the village road.
Floods in Mentaya Hulu sub-district were severe enough and submerged 14 villages. Floods in Parenggean sub-district submerged two villages, namely Barunang Miri and Bejara. Floods in Telaga Antang sub-district submerged four villages, namely Tumbang Boloi, Tumbang Mangkup, Rantau Katang, and Tumbang Sangai. Floods in Tualan Hulu sub-district submerged four villages, namely Luwuk Sampun, Mirah, Tumbang Mujam, and Sebungsu, while floods in Kota Besi sub-district submerged Hanjalipan Village. The latest news is that the flood has spread to Pamalian Village and Rasau growing.
The East Kotawaringin PKK Mobilization Team together with the jeep and trail community moved to provide assistance to flood victims in the City of Besi District, led by the Head of the PKK Mobilization Team, Khairiah Halikinnor. "This is a form of concern for flood victims in this area. We bring assistance according to our ability," he said.
He hopes that this assistance will be useful for people who are victims of flooding. There are more than 300 bags of rice and sugar and cooking oil.
He explained that Hanjalipan Village, which has been severely affected by floods in the past month, is indeed prone to flooding because its location is quite low and is on the banks of the river. last year, the PKK also came to provide assistance to flood victims in the sub-district. "Actually, it was built by the government of settlements in the highlands but people don't want to move yet. Hopefully, people will want to move later," said Khairiah.
Head of Besi City, Gusti Mukafi, expressed his gratitude for the assistance. Direct assistance was distributed to flood victims in Hanjalipan Village, Pamalian, and Rasau Growing. Previously there was also assistance from companies, students from Palangka Raya University and the government.
