Chairman Of Ansor Instructs Banser To Take Care Of Mahfud MD's Parents' House In Pamekasan
JAKARTA - The General Chairperson of the Central Leadership (PP) of the Youth Movement (GP) Ansor Yaqut Cholil Qoumas has instructed members of the Multipurpose Ansor Barisan (Banser) to guard the house of Mahfud MD's parents to anticipate unwanted things, such as the siege by hundreds of people Tuesday , December 1 at noon.
His party has an obligation to carry out security because Mahfud MD is one of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) figures who should have been protected from various threats.
"This has become the main duty and responsibility of all Banser cadres to protect the kiai, as well as NU figures from the threats or disturbances that come. Thus without being asked we will definitely provide protection," said Gus Yaqut, his nickname in a statement. written, in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Wednesday, December 2.
The siege of the home of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD by hundreds of people in Pamekasan, East Java, Tuesday 1 December afternoon, sparked the concerns of many circles.
The guarding of the Banser at home in the Bugih area, Pamekasan, which now lives by Mahfud MD's mother will continue to be carried out until the condition is truly considered safe.
For security, said Gus Yaqut, his party deployed Banser members from the Pamekasan area and its surroundings.
"They will alternate and coordinate with the local police," he said.
Gus Yaqut was very concerned about the siege on Mahfud's house, because so far the house in Pamekasan was not inhabited by Mahfud, but by his parents.
He said that the methods of conveying aspirations by visiting someone's house without permission were also not justified.
Moreover, he continued, their actions were not known by the authorities and were more as acts of provocation and spreading threats.
For this reason, Gus Yaqut hopes that the case of the siege of Mahfud MD's house will be immediately investigated and asked the police not to be afraid because if left unchecked these thug methods will set a bad precedent in democratic practices in Indonesia.
"If you don't like policies, for example, channel them in the right way. Can dialogue or use legal channels. Moreover, we are civilized people, don't use street methods like that," said Gus Yaqut.
As is known, on Tuesday afternoon around 13.45 WIB, Mahfud MD's house in Pamekasan was suddenly attacked by hundreds of people who came riding on several trucks.
In front of Mahfud's house, the crowd gave speeches before being quickly driven away by the police. Before besieging Mahfud's parents house, the crowd had come to the Pamekasan Police Headquarters.
In his oration, the masses asked the leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Rizieq Shihab, not to be named a suspect.
In his Twitter account, Mahfud MD said that the mob had not disturbed him as the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security but had disturbed his mother who lived in the house.
I always try to avoid taking action against people who attack me personally because I worry about being selfish and arbitrary because I have a position. I'm ready to be firm for other cases and it doesn't hurt me. But this time they disturbed my mother, not the minister of law and security. https://t.co/Uxp6jSokig

Mahfud said he always tried to avoid taking action against those who attacked him. This was done to prevent the public from being perceived as selfish and arbitrary public officials.
However, because he felt that the mob had disturbed his mother, he was ready to take action.
"I always try to avoid taking action against people who attack me personally for fear of being selfish and arbitrary because I have a position. I am ready to be firm for other cases that do not harm me," he said.
