Puan Maharani: 20 Parleman Forum Committed To Free Countries For Food Difficulties 2023
JAKARTA - DPR Speaker Puan Maharani said the parliament of the G20 countries at the G20 8th G20 Parliamentary Speakers Summit (P20) meeting was committed to ensuring that no country had difficulty meeting food supplies by 2023.
"We all have the same commitment that how to then go to 2023 it is hoped that there will be no country that will then not get the food they need," said Puan at a press conference at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex Senayan, Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, October 7.
Puan said that the P20 parliament also encourages food security issues not to have an impact on the group of women and children who are the biggest victims.
"Because it will harm the people in the country," he said.
Puan said the commitment was conveyed by the chairman or delegation of the G20 parliament in different ways, opinions and views. However, said Puan, all of them agreed not to attack each other or blame each other.
"All sessions we agree that no country is attacking each other, blaming, but of course in our discussion we invite all countries to express their opinions," he said.
He said that the input related to food security obtained in the P20 forum would be submitted and coordinated with the Government as the one who has executive authority.
The DPR, he continued, will then carry out supervisory functions for food security programs that will be carried out by the Government.
"We will coordinate it through related commissions and input from P20, which will be given to the Government to be implemented in the field because those who hold technical programs in the field are ministries and institutions," he said.
Puan explained that there were four topics discussed in the P20 forum which had been held since October 6-7, namely the green economy; food and energy security; effective the role of parliament and democracy; as well as social inclusion, gender equality, and women's empowerment.
P20 is the G20 State Parliamentary Forum which was held in a series of G20 Summits. The DPR RI carries the theme "Stronger Parliament for Sustainable Recovery" in line with the G20 Presidency theme "Recover Together, Recover Stronger".
