BNB Chain Kenya Hack, BNB 2 Million BNB Hacker Anilai Rp9,1 Triliun, Binance Tangguh Penarikan Dan Pengiriran Coin BNB
JAKARTA In recent years, hacking has become increasingly widespread in the world of cryptocurrencies. This time the fourth largest network of coins, BNB, was hacked. Therefore, Binance announced the temporary suspension of its entire network, the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) or BNB Chain.
This hack is one of the largest exploits in the field of decentralized finance (DeFi). About 2 million BNB worth 600 million US dollars (equivalent to Rp9.1 trillion) owned by a user has become the target of hackers. The funds have been sent to other networks.
In its announcement, BNB Chain stated that the temporary suspension was the impact of irregular activity and the possibility of exploitation potential. All systems are now under control, and we are immediately investigating potential vulnerabilities, the BNB Chain team said. In addition, the team stated that all funds are safe.
Because of irregular activities, we temporarily suspended BSC. We apologize for this inconvenience and will provide further updates here. Thank you for your patience and understanding," wrote BNB Chain's announcement on its official Twitter account @BNBCHAIN, October 6, 2022.
At the same time, Twitter users and developer DeFi "foobar" have something else to say about the situation. He claims an attacker has stolen 2 million BNB from "one" from the network.
"The attackers broke into funds across a collection of liquidity and used every bridge they could get to a safer network," he added, quoted by CryptoPotato.
Users include screenshots of block browsers showing that the suspect has USD 532 million in crypto, spread across various networks and Layer-2 compatible with EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine). This includes USD 421 million still on the BNB Chain (approximately 79 percent) network and another 53 million (10 percent) on the Ethereum network.
Data from BNB Chain supports this, showing exactly 1,020,094 BNB parked at the same address, worth 288 million US dollars. The cumulative ownership of the address amounted to USD 421 million, matching the screenshot of the foobar.
The rover also includes a notification that the address has been marked as part of a BSC bridge hack, reported by Web 3 cybersecurity group Ancilia. In addition, Tether - the world's largest stablecoin publisher - has blacklisted the account.
Due to this incident, BNB Chain moved quickly to collaborate with various organizations in the crypto industry including CertiK, Ankr, and Coinbase Cloud. Meanwhile, Binance's official Twitter announced that all BNB deposits and withdrawals on its crypto exchange platform were temporarily suspended due to the impact of these illegal activities.
