NTT Has 86 Regional Languages, 11 Bad News Endangered Because Rarely Used

JAKARTA - Kadis Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) banyak Lusi mengatakan, daerahnya memiliki 86 bahasa daerah yang digunakan di 22 kabupaten dan kota di wilayah NTT.

In Kupang, he said that among the 86 regional languages spoken in the NTT region, 11 regional languages are threatened with extinction because they are rarely used in daily activities.

According to him, regional languages are threatened with extinction, including regional languages spoken in the Alor Regency area.

The former Head of the NTT Border Agency said that regional languages that are threatened with extinction include Alurung, Adang, Klon, Panea Language, Kui Language, Pupuwala Language, Wesing Language, Sawila Language, Lona Language, and Bunawala Language.

According to him, the results of research conducted by the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) show that the number of speakers is low in regional languages.

He said that the decrease in the number of speakers in a regional language, among others, occurred due to inter-tribal marriages and the number of migrants in an area.

Reporting from Antara,aphir said, the local government conducted various studies and studies to support efforts to preserve regional languages.

According to him, the NTT Provincial Education and Culture Office has reviewed 43 regional languages and examined the use of 58 other regional languages in the NTT region, Thursday, October 6.
