Yogyakarta International Airport Will Be Fully Operated In March 2020
JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura (AP) I will fully operate Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, on March 29, 2020.
President Director of PT Angkasa Pura Faik Fahmi said, on March 29, 2020, all flights at Yogyakarta Adi Sutjipto Airport will be diverted to Yogyakarta International Airport, except for scheduled and unscheduled flights using propeller aircraft, as well as VIP flights using private jets.
"We will divert all flights from Adi Sutjipto Airport to Yogyakarta International Airport at the end of March. Later there will be 66 flights at Yogyakarta International Airport, currently only 34 flights per day," said Faik, Monday, January 27.
He said the transfers would be carried out simultaneously. This is based on input from the airline. "If it is done in stages, it will result in higher costs. They (airlines) have to pay operational costs for two places. So it is better if the transfers are carried out simultaneously," he said.
In addition, on March 29, Yogyakarta International Airport will operate 24 hours from previously operating only 12 hours from 06.00-18.00 WIB. Meanwhile, the operating hours of Adi Sutjipto Airport in Yogyakarta will change from the previous 05.00-21.00 WIB, to 05.00-18.00 WIB.
Since its initial operation on 6 May 2019 until the end of December 2019, Yogyakarta International Airport has served more than 232,000 passengers and 2,568 aircraft movements with 13 domestic routes to Denpasar, Banjarmasin, Palembang, Jakarta (Cengkareng and Halim Perdanakusuma), Palangkaraya, Batam, Banjarmasin, Samarinda, Tarakan, Pontianak, Makassar, and Kualanamu. Meanwhile, the number of flights at Adi Sutjipto Airport is 150 domestic flights and eight international flights.
"Yogyakarta International Airport will continue to prepare itself for full operation by the end of March 2020 so that it can better serve flights to and from DIY and its surroundings," said Faik.
Currently, Yogyakarta International Airport is supported by public transportation modes such as Damri, SatelQu, airport taxis, online taxis, and trains from the nearest station, Wojo Station, which can be reached 10 minutes from the airport.
"This choice of transportation mode will make it easier for passengers using airport services," he said.
