Support Halal Industry, Maybank Indonesia Sharia Unit Prepares SME Financing Of Up To IDR 50 Billion

JAKARTA - PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk (Maybank Indonesia) through the Sharia Business Unit (UUS) has formed a strategic partnership with entrepreneurs in order to support the government's program to develop the halal industry in the country.

"We synergize with a number of entrepreneurs to intensify production and procurement of halal products," said Head of Shariah Banking Maybank Indonesia Romy Buchari in his statement, Wednesday, October 5.

Romy said this strategic partnership covers various real sectors, including the food, cosmetic and fashion sectors with a number of brands in the country.

According to him, currently the halal product industry is not only focused on food and beverages, but also includes other sectors, such as clothing, cosmetics, and tourism.

"Development of the halal industry certainly requires a long process that is not easy and the participation of all parties, including from the Islamic finance sector to jointly develop Islamic industry and economy," added Romy.

He further said that his party has provided various sharia banking solutions to local entrepreneurs, such as financing, deposits, investment, and business transactions.

He also explained that entrepreneurs can choose the type of business financing which includes the provision of working capital and efforts to purchase assets, such as machinery, kiosks, factories, office buildings, or other commercial properties, with a financing limit ranging from Rp. 300 million to Rp. 50 billion for the small and medium enterprise (SME) segment.

Then, entrepreneurs who need working capital liquidity for flexible daily business transactions, so that it allows withdrawals and financing payments to be made at any time, can take advantage of the financing of sharia bank statements (PRKS) based on the musyarakah contract.

In addition, Romy continued, entrepreneurs who need investment capital, including movable assets such as production machines, equipment or business support vehicles for industry to construction, can take advantage of the Maybank Leasing iB facility, namely rental-based sharia financing using bittamlik (IMBT) ijarah application.

With Maybank Leasing iB, according to him, local entrepreneurs can have a better business financial ratio with a more flexible period of time for the repayment process. He also said that his party will continue to encourage the growth of the Islamic finance industry in Indonesia, which over time, the focus of its development will not only target the financial sector, but also the real sector or production.
