Carlos Alcaraz Never Estimated To Be Able To Capture The Status Of Petenis Number One Of The World At A Young Age
JAKARTA - Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz is currently the number one in the world. He got that status on September 11.
Alcaraz has now become the youngest player in ATP since 1973. The actual achievement has never been imagined by the tennis player.
In fact, Alcaraz stated, until now he still doesn't believe that he is ranked number one in the ATP version of the world at a fairly young age, which is 18 years.
"I think it's like a dream or maybe in a movie. I never thought I'd be number 1 this soon," Alcaraz said on ATP's official website, as quoted via Antara.
Alcaraz stole public attention while getting the Miami Open trophy last March. It was his first ATP Masters title.
In fact, at that time he got a greeting from the King of Spain Felipe VI by telephone.
He then met face-to-face with the president after winning his second ATP Masters. At that time he won the Madrid Open 2022.
Alcaraz then shone even more after winning the first Grand Slam. He won the US Open 2022 title and was then invited to the State Palace as a guest of the King of Spain.
"It was an extraordinary experience. Everyone wanted to meet the King of Spain," he said.
Alcaraz added that it was a crazy thing to enter the palace and see how many people worked in it.
Unfortunately, Alcaraz didn't have much time to party after his US Open win.
"I don't have much time to understand what I achieved at the US Open. Honestly I feel normal, I'm the same person," he said.
