China Trials HIV Drugs To Cure Corona Virus
JAKARTA - China is testing the HIV drug, Aluvia, as a cure for the symptoms of the corona virus. This virus is spreading widely and rapidly in a number of worlds.
According to a spokeswoman for the pharmaceutical company AbbVie Inc, Adelle Infante, China's health authorities asked for the drugs to help the government's efforts to deal with the crisis of the coronavirus outbreak.
The drug Aluvia, also known as Kaletra, is a combination of lopinavir and ritonavir. This is a type of oral medication given to patients with HIV infection.
In guidelines released on Thursday, Chinese authorities said there was no effective anti-viral drug against the coronavirus. However, they recommend taking two pills of lopinavir / ritonavir and one dose of interferon alfa twice a day for prevention.
Meanwhile, health authorities around the world are struggling to prevent a pandemic after more than 2,000 people became infected in China and 56 people died after contracting the virus.
