Knock! Death Sentence For Carriers Of 208 Kg Of Shabu-shabu In South Kalimantan
BANJARMASIN - The defendant carrying 208 kilograms of shabu-shabu and 53,969 ecstasy pills, Dimas Apriliano, was sentenced to death. The panel of judges at the Banjarmasin District Court found Dimas guilty in a drug case.
The defendant was found guilty of violating Article 132 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 114 paragraph 2 of Law Number 35/2009 concerning Narcotics, up to the maximum sentence of death imposed by a team of judges chaired by Mochamad Yuli Hadi. Regarding the verdict, Aprilianto's attorney, Ernawati, stated that he would pursue an appeal.
"We are appealing to the verdict of the panel of judges. As I said at the beginning of the trial, we hope the judge's decision is in accordance with his role. Do not look at the weight of evidence. Like Dimas, for example, he was only told to bring a car," he said as quoted by Antara, Monday, November 30. .
Aprilianto was arrested by the South Kalimantan Regional Police's Narcotics Research Directorate when carrying 208 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 53,969 ecstasy pills from Malaysia on March 13, 2020.
He was arrested by the police at Jalan Ahmad Yani Km 274, Simpang Empat Jaro Village, Jaro District, Tabalong Regency, South Kalimantan.
The police then expanded the case to Samarinda, East Kalimantan, and arrested three other suspects, namely Mahmudi alias Jun and Sahrul Gunawan alias Wawan and Sulistyo with seven kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 898 ecstasy pills and Rp1,100,000,000 in cash.
It was found that the four defendants had their cases split or separated. Mahmudi and Sahrul were charged with possession of seven kilograms of shabu-shabu and 898 ecstasy pills. Meanwhile, Sulistyo is subject to the article of money laundering for assets confiscated by the police in the amount of more than Rp1 billion.
