Album 18+ Jadi Penganda 18 Tahun KOTAK Berkarya, Menangkat Tema Digitalisasi
JAKARTA The band Kotak, which is fronted by Tantri in vocals, Cella in guitar, and Chua in bass, is 18 years old. The age is quite mature for a band to continue to exist and be active in work. At this 18th age, Kotak is back with an album mini (EP) entitled 18+.
This mini album contains 5 songs namely "Hantam" OST film Satria Dewa Gatot Kaca, Local Pride, It's Okay Not To Be Okay, Budak Konten, and Sabda Netizens. Ted Jensen, a master engineer from Sterling Sound who once collaborated with foreign artists such as Greenday, Deftones, Dave Matthews Band, was invited to work on an 18+ album.
"Mini album ini garis besarnya bagaimana hidup anak berusia 18 tahun sekarang sekarang dari sudu pandangan KOTAK yang sudah berusia 18 dengan garis besar tema digitalisasi menurut KOTAK, kata vocalist Kotak, Tantri dalam rilis, Jumat 30 September.
Single Sabda Netizens which is a collaboration with reggae senior singer Ras Muhammad, has become a focus track in 18+. This song raises the strength of netizens in cyberspace who can make a problem viral thanks to netizens who are busy voicing the issue. Sabda Netizens created by Kotak with Ras Muhammad with producers Tantri, Chua, and Cella.
This song raises the positive side of netizens to go viral, things that might be covered up if we are careless. In addition, in this song, the Box is very lucky to be able to collaborate with Ras Muhamad, an iconic figure outside the Kotak genre, can strengthen the lyrics and also have power in his community," said Cella.
Songs in 18+ also raise other social issues. Like 'Budak Konten' which insinuates people who can't help but create content on social media for their every activity. Likewise Local Pride which talks about styles that don't just have to wear luxury or branded goods.
