JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G. Plate exchanged his mind with the Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization of Romania, Sebastian-Loan Burduja in Bucharest, Romania, on Wednesday 28 September.
The two discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and transformation of upstream and downstream information and communication technology (ICT).
Sebastian also hopes that Romania can contribute to cybersecurity, which is one of the serious concerns of the Indonesian government.
"Including cyber components as well as our expertise in research and the development of academic centers. We really hope to continue this partnership," Sebastian said, quoted from a written statement from Kominfo, confiscated by Antara, Thursday, September 29.
According to Sebastian, Indonesia and Romania have many similarities in the development of the digital ecosystem.
"We have very positive chemistry here, even though we just met, I think we will support each other and our team has worked together for a long time. We support each other for nominations on the Council (ITU)," said Sebastian.
In the bilateral meeting, Johnny said that the potential for building relationships in the digital economic sector between the two countries was also discussed, such as e-commerce, fintech, edutech, and healttech.
"We have two decacorns, 14 unicorns and thousands of digital startups, of which Romania also has good digital talent. Maybe we can work together and build concrete relationships in the digital sector, economy and radio communication," said Johnny.
Johnny said his discussions with the Romanian Minister finally agreed on the construction of information and communication technology infrastructure between the two countries.
"We have the same view on how developed countries (developed a digital ecosystem). Romania and Indonesia agreed to exchange ideas and develop ICT development upstream and downstream," said Johnny.
The bilateral meeting was also attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Mira Tayyiba, Director General of Resources and Postal and Informatics Devices at the Ministry of Communication and Information, Ismal, and President Director of the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency, Anang Latif.
