Two Fishermen Of Karimun Sheared To Malaysian Waters, Picked Up By Polairud
JAKARTA - The Water and Air Police (Polairud) of the Karimun Police, Riau Islands, picked up two fishermen who were stranded into Malaysian waters, Wednesday, September 28 yesterday afternoon.
The pick-up was carried out on the Malaysia-Indonesia border with the agreed coordinates 01°15,367' N - 103°21,614' E.
"We picked up two Indonesian fishermen who were stranded in the waters of Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia because of the strong winds and the engine of their net pompong ship being damaged," said Head of the Karimun Police Polairud AKP Binsar Samosir in Karimun, Thursday, September 29, as reported by Antara.
Binsar said the handover of the two Indonesian fishermen was marked by the signing of an official report between the Karimun Police Polairud and Malaysia's Maritime Affairs.
This incident occurred on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at around 02.00 WIB. The two fishermen (Supianto and Yanto) were at sea with a hurricane and bad weather.
Then the victim's sister, Wito (witness) who also went to sea using a different boat, met with the victim's pompong, and then told him to go to the edge to take shelter first and take cover behind the island due to bad weather.
"But the victim was still in the middle, and soon the victim's pompong was no longer seen due to bad weather," he said.
Because he could not find a pompong and could not contact the two victims, Wito immediately reported the incident to Polairud of the Karimun Police.
After receiving the report, his party immediately conducted a search. After several years of searching, the police finally received information that the two victims were stranded in Malaysia.
"We immediately contacted representatives of Indonesia in Malaysia to confirm the news and immediately carried out the repatriation process to Indonesia," he said.
