Easy To Get Sick During Transitions? Is This The Reason?

JAKARTA - The transitional season makes a person easily infected with disease. This happens due to extreme temperature changes so that it can support viruses or bacteria that cause disease to reproduce.

"The change of seasons makes extreme temperature changes, supporting the breeding of some microorganisms such as viruses or bacteria that cause disease," said doctor Debora Sarah Annetta, quoted from ANTARA, Wednesday, September 28.

During the transition season, the environment turns colder and drier. It also causes mucosa or a network layer that limits the cavity of the cerina canal and the airway to dry out.

"As a result, it is easier for the virus to enter our bodies," explained Debora.

There are a number of diseases that people need to watch out for in the midst of the change of seasons, one of which is Acute Respiratory Channel Infection (ISPA). Debora gave an example of symptoms that are included in ISPA, namely flu, nasal congestion, pain, cough as well as throat pain.

Diseases such as diarrhea and dengue hemorrhagic fever should also be watched out for because puddles that arise after rain can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes that can spread dengue disease.

To maintain health to avoid disease, people need to apply a healthy lifestyle. The trick is to check routine health for ages 15 and over every 6-12 months for risk factors for non-communicable diseases, avoid smoking, exercise 30 minutes per day at least five days a week.

Another thing that must be done to live a healthy life is to undergo a balanced diet complete with vegetables and fruit, reduce consumption of sugar, salt, and fat, get enough rest and manage stress.
