The Officers Thwarted 20 Tons Of Illegal Tin Sand In Riau
JAKARTA - The Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) specifically for the Riau Islands thwarted an attempt to smuggle 20 tons of illegal tin sand carried by KM Jasmien ship from Dabo, Lingga Regency, to Malaysia.
"KM Jasmien was arrested by Customs and Excise officers for carrying prohibited items, namely tin sand on Saturday, November 28," said Head of the Special DJBC Kepri, Agus Yulianto, through a written press release, reported by Antara, Monday, November 29.
The Customs and Excise also arrested the ship captain KM Jasmien with the initials SO along with four crew members and evidence in the form of a cargo of tin sand totaling 400 sacks.
Currently the ship is en route from Dabo to the DJBC office in Karimun Regency for further investigation.
"KM Jasmien has violated Law 102a Number 17 of 2006 concerning Amendments to Law Number 10 of 1995 concerning Customs," he said.
In accordance with the Minister of Trade Regulation Number 04 / M-DAG / PER / 1/2007 dated January 22, 2007 concerning the Regulation for Export of Tin Bar. Tin that can be exported is with a minimum content of 99.85 percent of metal bars, while semi-finished tin, including tin ore or sand, is prohibited from being exported.
"The illegal tin sand smuggling activity has caused state losses of around Rp3 billion," said Agus.
