MER-C: Rizieq Shihab Received Unethical Treatment From The Mayor Of Bogor
JAKARTA - The Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) assessed that the actions of the Mayor of Bogor, Arya Bima, violated the rights of the High Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab as a patient and had intervened against the working medical team.
In addition, Arya is also considered unethical because he has published the patient's condition to the public, causing unrest in the community.
"Regarding Habib Rizieq, who entrusted MER-C to carry out medical examinations and escorts, MER-C sent him to rest in the hospital. However, he received unethical treatment and violated the rights of the Bogor Mayor by intervening with the medical team. "The Mayor of Bogor is not ethical in publishing the patient's condition to the public," said Chairman of the MER-C Presidium Sarbini Abdul Murad in a written statement to reporters on Sunday, November 29.
He considered, Arya needed to learn about medical ethics and patient rights. According to Abdul, a patient should have the right to accept or reject the examination and treatment without intervention or pressure from any party.
In addition, he considered, Arya Bima should have entrusted Rizieq's health problems to the hospital and the medical team on duty, "Because the medical team knows what steps are necessary and not necessary to treat patients," he said.
Furthermore, MER-C then regretted the actions that the Mayor of Bogor had taken. In addition, Abdul ensures that all health checks and treatments have been carried out according to existing diagnoses.
"Currently all examinations that need to be done are ongoing and treatment will be carried out in accordance with the health problems found," he said.

Previously, information about Rizieq Shihab being sick and being treated at the UMMI Hospital, Bogor, West Java was confirmed by the Mayor of Bogor, Bima Arya, who had contacted the hospital.
According to the management of the UMMI Hospital, Bogor, Rizieq was treated since Wednesday, November 25 and was treated for fatigue. However, the overall condition of the FPI frontman is in good condition and will continue to be subjected to further examinations by doctors.
Bima said that Rizieq had not yet carried out a swab test to detect COVID-19 in his body because he felt asymptomatic even though he also asked not to visit because he wanted to rest to the maximum.

Although Rizieq felt asymptomatic and did not feel the need to do a swab test, Bima still asked him to do it. This must be done to protect the health workers who treat themselves in the hospital.

Later, Arya revealed that Rizieq refused to undergo a swab test to detect whether he was exposed to COVID-19 or not.
