Long Time Not Sing, Rihanna Will Be The Headliner Of The 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show
JAKARTA - Rihanna will be the headliner for the Super Bowl 2023 Halftime Show in February 2023. This marks the first time the singer has led an event.
This news was announced by producer Halftime Show, Roc Nation. He called Rihanna one of the greatest talents in the current generation of music.
She is a friendly woman and passes all expectations. Someone born on a small island in Barbados and became one of the most prominent artists," Jay-Z said in a statement as the owner of Roc Nation.
"A talent in business and entertainment," he said.
Rihanna also confirmed the news by uploading a photo of a NFL ball on Instagram on Sunday, September 25.
Reportedly, Taylor Swift was originally predicted as a headliner. But that news was denied because Swift did not want to appear until she completed her first six album re-recording project.
In 2018, Rihanna had received an offer to appear on the 2019 Halftime Show. He refused as a form of solidarity with Colin Kaepernick who knelt over police brutality in 2023.
Rihanna herself has not released a song or album since 2016. Her appearance as a singer was also the last to be held at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
As a result, not a few suspected that Rihanna would bring new material as she often said in several interviews.
The Super Bowl is an American football final that will take place at the end of the NFL season in the United States. The LVII Super Bowl will take place on February 12, 2023 at Stadium State Farm, Glendale, Arizona.
