There Are Still Myths And Mobile Perceptions On Contraception, Head Of BKKBN: Need Socialization And Conseling

JAKARTA - Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Hasto Wardoyo said that there are still some people who are reluctant to use contraceptives due to myth or misperception factors related to pregnancy prevention tools.

"That's a wrong perception, that's not possible at all. Spiral said later if he was pregnant, he could taste it on his head or cheeks. There are many myths circulating, so socialization and counseling are needed," said Hasto, quoted by Antara, Sunday, September 25.

In addition, Hasto also denied that contraceptives can affect a person's sexual arousal. According to Hasto, the use of contraceptives can also make a person's sexual arousal more stable.

However, he confirmed that the use of condoms can make sexual intercourse a little uncomfortable.

"If condoms a little bit affect pleasure, maybe they can, because with condoms they don't have direct contact so there are complaints that are uncomfortable, that could happen," he said.

Meanwhile, Hasto also said that every contraceptive tool has its own level of failure that can cause pregnancy.

For example, the condom failure rate is May 100 per year meaning that of the 100 fertile couples who use condoms, there are 25 couples who fail to prevent pregnancy within one year.

According to Hasto, the rate of failure of the IUD is lower when compared to condoms. Therefore, the use of the IUD is considered more successful in planning a pregnancy.

"Long-term contraceptions such as implants, injections, IUDs have a small failure of only 3 to 1,000 per year. Yes, failures must be there but each contraceptive tool is different," said Hasto.

To reduce pregnancy rates or plan a pregnancy, you can also use natural KB as an alternative. This is a contraceptive method that is done without the use of the help of certain tools, drugs or procedures.

One way to use a natural KB method is to record the menstrual cycle so that it can avoid having sexual intercourse during fertile times.
