Religious Leaders Ask The Papuan Community Not To Be Provoked In Cases Of Allegations Of Corruption Lukas Enembe

JAKARTA - The Papuan Religious Leader, Pastor Alberth Yoku, asked the public not to be provoked by corruption cases involving Papua Governor Lukas Enembe.

"People are not allowed to make provocations in any form while the legal process is ongoing," he said in a written statement, Sunday, September 25.

The figure of the Indonesian Christian Church (GKI) in Tanah Papua believes that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has acted professionally against Lukas Enembe, as the anti-corruption agency has shown to the regents in the Papua region who have been involved in corruption cases.

The chairman of the Jayapura Regency Religious Communication Forum (FKUB) emphasized that the corruption alleged against Lukas Enembe was the personal responsibility of the person concerned.

Every state official has taken an oath of office when he was sworn in. So in carrying out his work, he must remember God and must follow the rules in the laws in force at the Republic of Indonesia," he said, quoted by Antara.

He asked that every community leader must have a professional attitude and be held accountable for their cooperative actions.

In addition, he continued, the Papuan community and figures were asked to respect the legal decision and were not allowed to intervene so that later there would be no mistakes that weighed on the governor or caused other polemics.

"The public must be calm and support the legal process to be fair, fair, and open for the benefit of the country," he said.

The KPK has sent a second summons to Papua Governor Lukas Enembe to be questioned as a suspect at the KPK's Red and White Building, Jakarta, Monday, September 26.

"Yes, the information we have obtained is true that a summons as a suspect has been sent by the KPK investigation team. The examination is scheduled for Monday, September 26, 2022, at the KPK's Red and White Building," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri in Jakarta, Thursday, September 22.

Ali said that previously Lukas Enembe did not attend the KPK's summons to be examined in his capacity as a witness on Monday, September 12.

"This is the second summons, where previously the person concerned was summoned as a witness to attend on September 12, 2022, but confirmed that he could not attend," said Ali.

The KPK hopes that Lukas Enembe will cooperate by attending the summons of the investigative team on the second call.

Previously, Aloysius Renwarin as the lawyer for Lukas Enembe confirmed that his client had received a second summons from the KPK.

"Yes, the summons has been received on 26 (September 2022)," said Renwarin in his statement on Wednesday, September 21.

However, he could not confirm further whether his client would attend the call or not. According to him, Lukas Enembe is still sick.
