The Order Of 'Durian Runtuh': This Car Washing Wins A Draw Of Rp41 Billion, Costs For Brain Tumor's Brother Operations
JAKARTA - Like a tiketan durian collapsed, this car wash got Rp41 billion, after winning the lottery which will be divided with his family, friends, and brother's operating costs.
A car washer in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) said his life changed after winning a 10 million Mahzooz dirham UAE podium equivalent to Rp41,142,631,800.
Bharat, 31, who worked at a power plant in Saudi Arabia before moving to Dubai three years ago, said he was unlikely to quit his car wash work after winning the vise.
"I want to keep working," he said, as reported by The National News September 21.
"I joined Mahzooz from the start, initially with friends because we didn't have much money," he recalled.
Bharat, who is from Nepal, bought a 'catching ticket' with two of his friends, vowed to share the prize money he got.
"Now I won with two friends. I told my family I had won, but haven't told them how much," he said.
"I've taken part in another draw, but think Mahzooz is more credible so I keep playing," he said.
With an income of only 1,300 dirham UAE or around IDR 5,348,542 per month, he is one of the winners with the lowest income.
He said the money would be distributed to families, as well as operating costs for relatives who were paralyzed by brain tumors.
Instead of buying the latest sports car, he will use the money to take care of my family and his brother's health expenses.
"UAE has given me many opportunities, so I want to stay here, but I want to take a vacation first," he said.
"Winning is amazing, but I've always had the belief that one day it will happen."
The 94th big draw was won after matching the five winning numbers: 16, 27, 31, 37 and 42.
Bharat said 27 and 16 were his lucky numbers, the first was his birthday and the other was his wedding day. His wife and two children aged 3 and 5 live in Nepal.
"Two of those numbers are special to me, my birthday and wedding anniversary, but the others are random. I change them all the time," said Bharat.
"I put up the numbers at 1 am and wish my best. When I finished my job, I went back to my room to see the draw around 9 o'clock."
"I'm looking forward to paying off my mortgage and other bills as soon as possible. It's important for me to organize the future of my two children aged 5 and 3 years," said Bharat.
Since Bharat does not have a bank account, he will get help to open his first account with Mahzooz, a non-stakeholder organization.
"This will be an extraordinary thing to achieve. This prize will allow me to achieve many things and change the lives of many people," said Bharat.
Besides Bharat, he also came out as the winner in the same period, namely 41 people shared a second prize of 1,000,000 UAE dirham, and 1,174 winners bagged third prizes of 350 dirham UAE each.
In addition, the three winners took home 300,000 UAE dirhams in the draw, featuring three wins every week.
To note, the total prize money won in the 94th draw was 11,719,900 dirham UAE.
Since its launch, Mahzooz's game design has changed to make it easier to win. Participants bought a bottle of water for 35 dirhams and received a ticket with him. To enter the lottery, it was used to register on the Mahzooz site.
After the water bottles were purchased, the funds were distributed to groups in need, such as workers. Meanwhile, the company also has a corporate social responsibility program, with cash distributed among 15 registered charities and NGOs in the UAE.
