Pedestrians Will Have Privileges In IKN Nusantara
JAKARTA - Mobility in the State Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago will later be more human-oriented. Pedestrians will get the top priority in the new capital city later.
This was revealed by the Coordinator of the Expert Team for the Transition Team for the State Capital Authority (IKN) Nusantara Wicaksono Sarosa.
"This is actually a paradigm change, because the main priority is pedestrians. Meanwhile, private cars or vehicles are the lowest priority," said Wicaksono, as quoted from Antara, Saturday, September 24, 2022.
Mobility in IKN will not only prioritize pedestrians, non-motor vehicles such as bicycles, public transportation must be prioritized.
Private motor vehicles or private cars must be reduced in order to achieve IKN as an environmentally friendly city and so on.
Later at IKN, there will also be efforts to connect integrated pedestrians, connect pedestrians in an ongoing and integrated area at various layer levels of the building.
Previously, the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) was preparing a plan to develop a smart, integrated and environmentally friendly transportation system as a form of support for the National Capital Development Plan (IKN) in Penajam Paser Utara and Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan Province.
As directed by President Joko Widodo, the main goal of IKN development is to build a new, smart, competitive city at the global level. This is a transformation towards a country based on innovation, technology, and a green economy.
The Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya revealed that the preparation of transportation is very important in supporting the smooth accessibility and mobility of people and goods in IKN.
The transportation system to be developed in IKN, related to the land transportation sector, will be developed by pedestrian facilities, bicycles, battery-based electric vehicles, and autonomous vehicles for bus transportation.
