Liability Inflation! Use Of Credit Cards And Debit Increases 34 Percent
JAKARTA - The signal of national economic recovery is increasingly being felt in the second half of this year, which is shown by the increasing consumption of the community.
Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that there was an increase in consumptive transactions through banking channels in August 2022.
"The value of payment transactions using credit cards, debit cards, or through automatic teller machines (ATMs) has increased by 34.7 percent on an annual basis (year on year/yoy)," said BI Governor Perry Warjiyo at a press conference quoted Friday, September 23.
According to Perry, from the three facilities, the transaction value was quite fantastic, reaching Rp722.5 trillion.
"Bank Indonesia also continues to encourage the innovation of the payment system by continuing to prepare for the implementation of domestic Government Credit Cards (KKP) in stages," he said.
Perry also revealed that the value of electronic money transactions (EU) in August 2022 grew 43.24 percent to reach IDR 35.5 trillion.
Then the value of digital banking transactions increased 31.40 percent to Rp4,557.5 trillion which was claimed to be in line with the normalization of community mobility.
"In the midst of the challenges of inflationary pressures, digital economic and financial transactions continue to increase, supported by the increasing expectations and preferences of the public in online shopping, expanding and facilitating digital payment systems, as well as accelerating digital banking," he explained.
"Bank Indonesia continues to strengthen the implementation of payment system policies and accelerate digitalization to support economic recovery," concluded BI Governor Perry Warjiyo.
