Only Get A Budget Of IDR 1.09 Trillion For 2023, The Ministry Of Investment/BKPM Pessimiltis Investment Target IDR 1,400 Trillion Can Be Achieved

JAKARTA - Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia explicitly expressed its objection to the budget allocation of Rp1.09 trillion in 2023 for the Ministry of Investment/BKPM.

Bahlil asked the legislature to understand if later the investment realization target set at IDR 1,250 trillion to IDR 1,400 trillion could not be achieved.

"Because the meeting has been decided by an internal mechanism in the DPR related to the ratification of the budget, we are ready to carry out what is decided, because we can understand the existing conditions. However, the target of Rp. 1,400 trillion is a very large target. If we do not reach the target, please understand," he said during a working meeting with Commission VI of the DPR RI, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, September 21.

Bahlil had previously proposed an additional budget of 2023 to be able to pursue the investment realization target of IDR 1,400 trillion.

The proposed 2023 budget proposal totaled Rp1.88 trillion, which was needed as the investment target burden increased in 2023 to Rp1,400 trillion from 2022 which was Rp1,200 trillion. The proposal was also submitted because the budget ceiling in 2023 decreased compared to the 2022 budget ceiling of Rp1.3 trillion.

As for the 2023 RAPBN, the Ministry of Investment's budget ceiling is set at Rp1.09 trillion, which in detail consists of Rp392.6 billion for management support programs and Rp701.6 billion for investment programs.

"I have not found an economic theory whose target is Rp. 1,200 trillion, our budget is Rp. 1.3 trillion. But (the target) has been increased to Rp. 1,400 trillion, financing has been reduced to Rp. 1.1 trillion," he said.

However, Bahlil admitted that he had to accept the decision and would do his best so that the target could be achieved.

"But rest assured that we always think optimally, God willing, we will protect it at Rp1,400 trillion," he said.

Chairman of Commission VI of the DPR RI Mohamad Haekal asked the Ministry of Investment to optimize the budget as well as possible. In the working meeting, the Ministry of Trade budget in 2023 was also approved at IDR 2.27 trillion.

"Commission VI asks the Ministry of Investment and the Ministry of Trade to optimize the budget as well as possible," said Haekal.
