Thousands Of Indian Farmers Attempting To Bypass The Haryana-Delhi Border Clash With Police

JAKARTA - Thousands of farmers from the state of Punjab, India, were involved in clashes with police in Delhi. The clashes began with the protests of farmers who rejected policy reforms in the agricultural sector.

Government-driven reforms were seen as the government's impartiality for peasants. The government denies that reforms that open the agricultural sector to private actors will hurt farmers.

Demonstrations have been taking place since the beginning of this week. The masses continued to move and even tried to break through the police barricade to enter Delhi through the border of Haryana State. The security response in Delhi has been stepped up.

Drone cameras were deployed to monitor mass movements on the Delhi-Haryana border. Previously, two large farmer associations in India issued statements that they would continue to work towards reaching the Delhi-Haryana border.

It was reported that the masses were eager to enter Delhi. "They were traveling in a trolley full of rice and grains and were cooking their own food. They said they were ready for a long battle," wrote the BBC's report, quoted Friday, November 27.

But tight security at the border made it difficult for the demonstrators to move towards Delhi. A number of photos and videos show a dramatic picture of clashes between farmers and police. Police used tear gas and water cannons to control the crowd.
