Leaks Search Edhy Prabowo Case, KPK Deputy 'Sprayed' ICW
JAKARTA - The Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) criticized and questioned the motive of the Deputy for Enforcement of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Karyoto for leaking the search activities at the Office of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP).
Meanwhile, Karyoto previously said that his party would conduct a search at the KKP office after he caught Edhy Prabowo in the hands of the bribe for the export license of fry. He conveyed this before the activity was carried out.
"ICW criticized and questioned the motives of KPK Deputy for Enforcement, Karyoto, who even informed the plan to search the case involving Edhy Prabowo," said Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) researcher Kurnia Ramadhana in a written statement to journalists, Friday, November 27.
According to Kurnia, as a leader in the field of prosecution, Karyoto should have understood that a search should not be made public before it is carried out. Because, if that happens, of course it can interfere with the search process itself.
"As a deputy for prosecution, the person concerned should understand that the forced action in the form of a search is closed. Because, if it is published, it will open up gaps for certain parties to remove evidence," he said.
He asked the leadership or the supervisory board to reprimand Karyoto and give an evaluation of the statement he made. So, in the future this kind of incident will no longer happen.
Previously, KPK Deputy for Enforcement Karyoto announced that anti-graft agency investigators would come to the KKP office to conduct a search after Edhy Prabowo was named a suspect along with six other people in connection with the export bribery of fry.
"Hopefully tomorrow we will carry out a thorough search of the processes as we know from the results of the initial investigation," said KPK Deputy for Enforcement Karyoto in a press conference broadcast on the KPK YouTube account, Thursday, November 26.
Even though the search was carried out several days after the arrest was made, the KPK believes the evidence in the building will remain safe. Because, they have sealed a number of existing rooms.
"Yesterday we already sealed (a number of rooms, red). So maybe from yesterday no one entered the place we were going to search," he said.
Previously reported, in addition to establishing Edhy Prabowo as a suspect, the KPK named five other people as recipients of bribes, namely: Stafsus Minister of KKP Safri (SAF) and Andreau Pribadi Misanta (APM); Management of PT Aero Citra Kargo (PT ACK) Siswadi (SWD); The staff of the wife of the Minister of KKP, Ainul Faqih, and Amiril Mukminin (AM).
Meanwhile, the giver of the bribe was the Director of PT Dua Putra Perkasa Pratama (PT DPPP) Suharjito (SJT).
Edhy Prabowo and a number of suspects were arrested by the KPK prosecution team at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Cengkareng, Tangerang upon arrival from Honolulu, Hawaii, United States.
In this case, Edhy allegedly received Rp3.4 billion in bribes, which was then used as much as Rp. 750 million to buy luxury goods in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States. The items he bought were in the form of bags, clothes, and luxury Rolex watches.
For his actions, Edhy and five people who were named as suspects who received bribes were then suspected of violating Article 12 paragraph (1) letter a or b or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Acts. Corruption Crime in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.
Meanwhile, the suspect who gave the bribe is suspected of violating Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or b or Article 13 of Law Number 31 Year 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 Year 2001 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crime.
