Depok Will Limit Face-to-Face Learning To A Maximum Of 4 Hours
JAKARTA - The Depok City Education Office in West Java Province will limit face-to-face learning to a maximum of four hours a day when teaching and learning activities at schools are held again starting January 2021.
"After completing the teaching and learning activities, the room must be sterilized by spraying disinfectants. The number of students in one room is also limited to a maximum of 18 students," said Head of Depok City Education Office Mohammad Thamrin in Depok, reported by Antara, Friday, November 27.
The Depok City Education Office is preparing to implement teaching and learning activities in schools following a central government decision regarding re-implementation of face-to-face learning starting January 2021.
"Even so, we are also still preparing for online or online learning, because the teaching and learning activities are not fully carried out as before the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.
The Education Office, according to him, does not allow teaching and learning activities in schools outside of the main subjects to minimize the risk of transmission of the corona virus.
In order to prevent crowds, he continued, the school canteen would not be opened and students were asked to bring their own food supplies.
The Education Office also asked schools to prepare supporting facilities for implementing health protocols.
"Such as portable hand washing stations, temperature measuring devices, School Health Business room (UKS). This includes considering the health of teachers too," said Mohammad Thamrin.
Deputy Chairperson of the Depok City COVID-19 Handling Task Force Sri Utomo said that the implementation of face-to-face learning in schools must be carefully prepared to prevent the emergence of new clusters of corona virus transmission.
When carrying out face-to-face learning, he said, education units must ensure crowds do not occur by limiting the number of learners and arranging study time.
"There are no extracurricular activities, after school the students have to go straight home. The school also does not open a canteen, the students prepare their own supplies," he said.
He added that related agencies must also prepare transportation arrangements for students to minimize the risk of transmitting the corona virus on the way from home to school and vice versa.
