The Components Of The IPhone 12 Are Not As Expensive As The Selling Price
JAKARTA - Apple has marketed the iPhone 12 series at a price that is quite expensive. However, it turns out that the component prices and the cost of assembling the iPhone are known to be not that expensive.
Citing GSM Arena, this was revealed by a Japanese company, Fomalhaut Techno Solutions (FTS), which released a report regarding the original prices of the components of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. Including why the device has become so expensive.
In his report, the bill of materials (BoM) found that the cost of assembling the iPhone 12 was around US $ 373 or Rp. 5.2 million. While the iPhone 12 Pro is around 406 US dollars or worth Rp. 5.7 million.
Meanwhile, the retail price of the cheapest iPhone 12 variant is priced at IDR 11.8 million. The difference is quite far for iPhone devices.
FTS explained that what makes the iPhone too expensive is because this phone uses an OLED screen, where the screen is made by Samsung which is estimated to have a price of 70 US dollars, equivalent to Rp988 thousand.
In addition, the iPhone 12 series is also powered by the Qualcomm X55 5G processor with a price of up to 90 US dollars or Rp1.2 million. Meanwhile, the production of the A14 Bionic chipset is US $ 40, equivalent to Rp.565 thousand, RAM costs Rp180 thousand, and the embedded flash memory is Rp.271 thousand per unit.
The factor that makes this phone quite expensive is because the iPhone 12 uses a Sony camera sensor which has a price range of US $ 7.4 to US $ 7.9, equivalent to Rp. 104 thousand to Rp. 111 thousand. Another from FTS, the company also said that Apple uses a lot of components from South Korea with a percentage of 26.8 percent.
The other components came from the US with 21.9 percent and Japan at 13.6 percent. China also contributed, namely 4.6 percent. For the record, most of the iPhone 12 assembly is also in China.
