This Is What Canelo Told Golovkin After They Stop The Trilogy Duel
JAKARTA - As many weeks ahead of their fight on Saturday, September 17, Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin were involved in a war of words to build the fighting spirit.
However, at the end of the match which took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, the two fighters hugged each other friendlyly and exchanged words.
After the fight, which was decided unanimously for Canelo's victory, the two fighters hugged each other. Of course, this is very different from the word-of-word and hate war that the two described in the days leading up to the duel.
"This fight will be recorded in boxing history. Thank you Golovkin, thank you, my friend. I've gone through some very difficult moments in my life and you have to keep going, you can do anything," Canelo told GGG., Tuesday.
"Flight is good, they teach us to learn a lot, throw things away and move forward. Have humility and a long life in Mexico," he added.
Canelo's career was badly tarnished after losing to Dmitry Bivol to Russia, and that's why he may be looking for a third fight against Golovkin, who has undoubtedly been his biggest rival throughout his career.
However, Canelo returned to winning ways, and wanted to put himself back among the best fighters from pound to pound in point of view, but for that he had to find a rematch against Bivol and beat him.
However, in order for that to happen, Canelo had to wait until 2023, because in November Bivol already had a fight schedule against another Mexico, Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez.
This will of course also give Canelo time to recover from surgery to his left wrist injury.
Meanwhile, Canelo has also been linked against other opponents such as Mexican boxer David Benavidez.
