Mahfud MD Names Lukas Enembe Suspect for Alleged Corruption, Lawyer: Why Does He Want To Mix All Jobs?

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, is considered to have interfered in the affairs of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). He is said to have gone too far in dealing with the alleged corruption that ensnared the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe.

This was conveyed by the attorney for the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe, Aloysius Renwarin. According to him, Mahfud interfered too much in the work of the KPK.

"Here, the authority of the KPK is not the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs. So the authority is not the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, the KPK is speaking", Aloysius told reporters in Jakarta, Monday, September 19.

"How come he (Coordinating Minister of Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, ed) wants to interfere with all the work in this republic?", he continued.

Aloysius said the money in his client's account was not bribed money. Luke is said to have many resources that can be utilized.

In fact, he said his client had a gold mine. "He has served in his country for 20 years, where the source of gold is the most in his district, where he was born, in his country", said Aloysius.

"So what do you want to do to find fault with people", he added.

As previously reported, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, asked Papua Governor Lukas Enembe to fulfill the summons of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The alleged corruption suspect was asked to cooperate.

This he conveyed after holding a meeting with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Center for Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis (PPATK), State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Polri, Police Security Intelligence Agency (Intelkam), Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS TNI) today on Monday, September 19.

"To Lukas Enembe, in my opinion, yes, if the KPK is called, just come", Mahfud said in a press conference broadcast on the YouTube of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

Not only that, Mahfud revealed that Lukas' alleged corruption was not only IDR 1 billion. There are several related cases, including the management of the National Sports Week (PON) to money laundering.
