Sleman Not Only For Natural Disasters But Also For Fires, The Regent Of Wanti-wants Its Citizens

JAKARTA - Sleman Regent Kustini Sri Purnomo reminded the public not only to focus on potential natural disasters. Residents are also asked to be aware of the potential threat of a fire disaster.

"In recent times, there have been a number of fire cases in our area, both which resulted in material casualties and fatalities," said Kustini Sri Purnomo in Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region, Monday, September 19, quoted from Antara.

The case of a fire in Sleman, among others, happened to SD Negeri 1 Delegan Sumberharjo, Prambanan on August 9 who spent most of the buildings.

Then a house fire in Kocoran Hamlet RT 05/RW 03 Kelurahan (Desa) Caturtunggal, Kapanewon (District) Depok which resulted in the death of three occupants.

And the fire that hit the livestock cage in Klero Sumberharjo Hamlet, Prambanan, Sleman on September 9.

"Due to this, the public is expected to be more vigilant andetapative about things that can trigger a fire," he said.

According to him, the case of a fire that occurred in Sleman was mostly triggered by an electrical short circuit, so the public was asked to be careful in adding or changing the installation of electricity at home.

"As much as possible, the installation of electricity in the house is always checked for security, especially those that have been networked for a long time. Don't add installations carelessly," he said.

Kustini said, in addition to the threat of a fire disaster, Sleman Regency also contained a number of other natural disaster threats.

"Geographically, Sleman is at the foot of Mount Merapi. So the threat of the eruption of Mount Merapi is quite high. It even includes the threat of secondary disasters from the eruption of Merapi such as cold lava floods," he said.

He said that a number of areas in Sleman are also prone to floods, landslides, strong winds and drought.

"In addition, the threat of an earthquake also has the potential to occur in Sleman," he said.
