World Boxing Results: Saul Canelo Alvarez Wins The Contran Trilogy Battle Gennady Golovkin In Las Vegas
JAKARTA - Saul "Canelo" Alvarez showed his sportsmanship by thanking Gennady Golovkin after winning the world-class world boxing trilogy duel super at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, United States (US), Sunday morning 18 September WIB.
Alvarez dominated for 12 rounds so the judge declared an absolute win. Dave Moretti scored 116-112, David Sutherland, and Steve Weisfeld both rated 115-113.
These results also made Alvarez maintain the true super middleweight champion status by holding four WBA Super, IBF, WBC, and WBO titles.
"Thank you very much, Golovkin. Thank you friend. We gave fans three very good matches," Alvarez said after the match as reported by DAZN.
"I've had some tough times with the defeat I've had (in the previous game). He (Golovkin) is a very good fighter. He's strong. I love to fight him," Canelo Alvarez added.
On this occasion, Canelo also revealed that his left hand was having problems after this match.
"I need a left hand operation after this. But I'm fine. I'm a fighter. Golovkin is a strong boxer. I'm not surprised," Canelo said as quoted by Antara.
The rivalry between Canelo and GGG has occurred since four years ago. In the previous two meetings, the duel took place in the middle class (72.5kg).
As a result, drew in the first world boxing match at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas on September 16, 2017 and a win that was considered controversial for Canelo in a rematch at the same location on September 15, 2018.
Now, Alvarez for the second time won again. Golovkin also acknowledged the toughness of his opponent.
