High Pneumonia Disease Load, Depok Health Office Gives Free PVC Vaccine

DEPOK - The Depok City Health Office (Dinkes) of West Java has begun to provide immunizations for Pneumoccal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV) for free to children, through Posyandu, Puskesmas, and other vaccine posts that have been appointed by the government. Head of Depok City Health Office, Mary Liziawati in Depok, Saturday, September 17, said immunization was given to children aged 2, 3, and 12 months. Immunization is given on time according to the predetermined schedule. "Depot as one of the cities in West Java is obliged to start the implementation of PCV immunization which starts on September 12, 2022," he said.

He said that 3,600 children in Depok City were targeted for PCV vaccine. This number of targets is in accordance with the age of babies receiving PCV immunization at the age of 2 months. Mary stated that PCV immunization was carried out taking into account the high burden of Pneumonia's disease. Moreover, there is a study in Lombok as a database data as well as recommendations from WHO and ITAGI (Indonesia Technical Advisory Group on Immunization). The provision of immunization is expanded and in 2022 it is hoped that all cities or districts in Indonesia can carry out PCV introduction into the national immunization program.*
