Pesimist Anies Maju Candidate 2024, PKB: Sure?
JAKARTA - Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa (PKB) is pessimistic about the steps taken by the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan who stated that he was ready to nominate himself as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election, if there was a political party that carried him. Because, finding a supporting party is not as easy as turning a hand. Deputy Chairperson of PKB Jazilul Fawaid, said no one forbade Anies to run as a presidential candidate. He also invited the former Minister of Education and Culture to register as a presidential candidate in 2024.
"No one has banned it. Please Mr. Anies to run (the presidential candidate)," said Jazilul, Saturday, September 17. However, the Deputy Chairperson of the MPR questioned Anies' determination to run as a presidential candidate. Because according to Jazilul, it is difficult for non-political candidates to run without any parties to carry out and coalition political parties.
"Is it sure? It's not easy to find a supporting party," Jazilul said. Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan had flown to Singapore for a few days. There he was interviewed by Reuters about his plan after no longer serving as governor.
To the foreign media, Anies stated that he is ready to run as a presidential candidate in the 2024 election if there are political parties or coalitions of political parties who want to carry them.
"I am ready to run for president if a party nominates me," Anies told Reuters in an interview in Singapore, Thursday, September 15.
Anies revealed that he has room to communicate with all parties in order to participate in the political contestation in the next two years. Because, he is a political figure who is on an independent path and does not join any party.
Anies also responded to several results of a presidential candidate survey showing that his current electability is among the highest.
"This unsolicited survey happened even before I campaigned, I think they gave me more credibility," said Anies.
