Capacity 330 Filled With 500 People, Gorontalo Prison I Lost 10 Inmates

JAKARTA - Class IIA Penitentiary (Lapas) Gorontalo transferred 10 inmates to Pohuwato Regency Prison, Gorontalo Province. The prison has overcapacity.

Head of Class IIA Prison, Indra Mokoagow said, to date, nearly 500 inmates are in prison with a maximum capacity of 330 people.

Indra also said that the strategy for unraveling it would be to move to a prison where there was still a small number of inmates.

"After coordinating with the Correctional and Prison Division, as well as fulfilling related administrative requirements, Gorontalo Prison finally transferred 10 inmates to Pohuwato Prison," said Indra in Gorontalo, quoted from Antara, Friday, September 16.

He explained that the purpose of transferring prisoners is to maintain stability in security and order in prisons, especially to reduce the excess capacity that has been happening so far in Gorontalo Prison.

"What we are doing refers to the applicable standard operating standards," he said.

Head of Correctional Security (KPLP) Kasim Mohungo explained, he dispatched all security teams to oversee the transfer process.

After briefing all security teams, the process of transferring begins by picking up the names directly listed on the list in their respective residential rooms.

Before being transferred, the inmate checked the physical health of the prison medical officer, as well as a brief briefing at the security post.

After that, one by one the inmates were directed to a car that was already waiting in front of the prison yard with strict escort from officers.

"All prisoners who were transferred are confirmed to be physically healthy and have gone through the entire screening process, thus avoiding the spread of infectious diseases," he concluded.

The process of transferring the prisoners was witnessed directly by the Correctional Division of the Gorontalo Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office, and all officials within the Class IIA Gorontalo Prison.
