Respons Wacana Maju Menjadi Cawapres 2024, Presiden Jokowi: Bukan Dari Saya, Itu Saja, Terima Kasih!

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said that the many discourses regarding him being proposed as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) in the 2024 election did not come from him."From me, I will explain, if it's not from me, I don't want to explain. That's all, thank you," said President Jokowi when answering reporters' questions at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Antara, Friday, September 15.President Jokowi conveyed this after a two-term presidential discourse polemic, namely Joko Widodo could become a crowded vice presidential candidate (cawapres) in the mass media."From the start I said that this was not me who prepared, I have answered the three terms, as soon as I answered that there was another extension, I also answered that this reappeared as vice president, who was it from?" said President Jokowi. The conversation about President Jokowi being vice presidential was rolled out after the spokesman for the Constitutional Court (MK) Fajar Laksono's statement about a two-term president could become a vice presidential candidate.Fajar Laksono said the provisions in the 1945 Constitution set limits on the two-term presidential candidacy. However, there is no limit for the former president to run for vice president."If it's normative, it's okay. There's no prohibition, but it's a matter of political ethics in my opinion," said Fajar Laksono. However, the Constitutional Court then called the statement a personal statement by the spokesman for the Constitutional Court, Fajar Laksono, not the official attitude of the Constitutional Court's institution/decision.The statement regarding the issue is not an official statement and is not related to the implementation of the Constitutional Court's authority.Former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Jimly Asshidddiqie, then emphasized that the two-term president could not run for vice president because of the limitations in articles 7 and 8 of the 1945 Constitution.Article 7 of the 1945 Constitution stipulates "The President and Vice President hold office for 5 years and thereafter can be re-elected in the same position, only for one term."While Article 8 (1) reads "If the president dies, resigns, is dismissed or cannot fulfill his obligations during his term of office, he will be replaced by the vice president until his term of office is over."So that if President Jokowi becomes vice president in 2024 then article 8 paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution will not be implemented because it will be contrary to Article 7.
