Observers Give Anies No Use To Create A Last Month's Policy: Later Even Blunder

JAKARTA - In the last month before the end of the term of office, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan is advised not to issue any new policies.

According to urban planning observer from Trisakti University, Trubus Rahadiansyah, if Anies makes a policy ahead of himself, it is feared that a polemic will arise.

This, said Trubus, could have a negative impact on Anies' future image, when the former Minister of Education and Culture stepped up as a presidential candidate in the 2024 General Election.

"In my opinion, Mr. Anies doesn't have to take any policies. He only played beautifully when he lived this month. Later, if he makes a policy, he will blunder. Later he will be attacked, he will be troublesome. In fact, it tarnishes his own name as a candidate for RI 1," Trubus said when contacted, Friday, September 16.

Trubus admits there are no rules prohibiting regional heads from making strategic policies ahead of their term of office ends. However, what Anies must pay attention to is ethics.

"According to the regulatory policy, that's okay, there are no rules that prohibit it. But ethically the public, taking public policies is not allowed. Why? Because it only takes a month, who implements it? It's unethical," Trubus said.

Previously, there was a debate about this. Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Prasetyo Edi Marsudi asked Anies not to issue strategic policies such as inaugurating DKI Provincial Government officials from now on until his term of office ends on October 16, 2022.

Prasetyo suggested that Anies not inaugurate DKI Provincial Government officials in order to maintain political stability ahead of the end of his tenure in Jakarta.

"To maintain a healthy social political stability in bureaucratic politics in accelerating development and public services programs in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, we hereby propose that the Governor of DKI Jakarta does not inaugurate high-ranking Pratama officials," said Prasetyo.

However, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Legal Bureau, Yayan Yuhanah, defended Anies. Yayan denied Prasetyo's statement asking Anies not to make strategic policies after holding a plenary meeting to announce the dismissal of regional heads and deputy regional heads whose term of office ends in 2022.

Yayan emphasized that the plenary meeting held today was only a series of administrative processes. Thus, Anies' authority did not change until he stepped down on October 16, 2022.
