What Is The Task Of BSSN As An Institution That Works In Cyber Security

YOGYAKARTA - The functions and duties of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) have become a public concern after a case of alleged data theft by a hacker named Bjorka. The data leak is considered very dangerous for the state's security in terms of data.

Government officials have also begun to encourage the performance of BSSN in the field of cybersecurity and state codes. The results of the internal Kominfo meeting, together with the President, Vice President, and Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, revealed that the data distributed by Bjorka was only general data, not important privacy data.

However, President Jokowi will form an emergency response team by cooperating with BSSN, BIN, Kemenkominfo, and Polri. This team will later be assigned to carry out the next assessments to maintain good data governance in Indonesia. Commission I of the DPR also asked BSSN and Cyber Police to track down and arrest people behind Bjorka's account.

So what are the tasks and functions of the BSSN itself?

BSSN is one of the Non-Ministerial Government Institutions engaged in securing state secrets information. The position and role of BSSN is regulated in the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) of the Republic of Indonesia, namely Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 103 of 2001 concerning Position, Duties, Functions, and Authority, Organizational Arrangement, and Work Procedure of Non-Degree Government Institutions.

The State Password Institute (Lamsaneg) was founded on April 4, 1946. Lamsaneg, has the task of carrying out government duties in the field of bathing in accordance with the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations.

Lamsaneg then deformed to BSSN based on Presidential Decree No. 53 of 2017 was set for May 19, 2017. BSSN was formed to ensure the implementation of government policies and programs in the field of cyber security.

Previously, BSSN was a government institution responsible for and under the auspices of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. However, currently the position of BSSN is under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
